This past Sunday evening, Titanic Oscar-nominated co-star Gloria Stuart died at her Los Angeles home.

She was 100 years old.

Gloria played the aging survivor of the infamous ship in the blockbuster 1997 film. No doubt if you saw the movie, you remember her sparkling blue eyes and the love of life that emanated from them.

By all accounts, Gloria Stuart’s was a life lived with passion. Nobody sank her ship. And we can all learn from Ms. Stuart’s example. In fact, word of her passing has inspired me to write today’s blogging tips.

One of the last great actresses from Hollywood’s Golden Era, Gloria Stuart experienced success in her occupation of choice. She retired when the work didn’t fuel her anymore, and came back for more when she wanted to. Her daughter was quoted as saying “She had a great life.”

For those of us born mid-twentieth century and beyond, we’ve heard a lot about pursuing our passion, following our bliss. Yet we get bogged down with “show me the money.” We’re often actually distracted by chasing after the dollar (or pound, or euro…).

One thing I know for sure, it’s a heck of a lot easier to write if you feel passionate about your subject. And it can make doing business something you enjoy.

So my blogging tips for you today are threefold. Your business – no matter what it is – must include these 3 things:

• Passion
• Monetization
• Teamwork

Passion

Beyond the right training and a stellar marketing plan, succeeding on the internet takes focus, determination and will power. If you do not feel passionate about what you’re doing, the best blogging tip in the world will not help you. Without this one, your ship is likely to never even get out of the port.

Monetization

And if you are crazy passionate about what you do, but there is little chance of creating an income, then you’ve embraced a wonderful hobby. But you still don’t have a business.

Teamwork

And if you’re trying to go it alone – don’t. There aren’t really any true solo-preneurs. Combining and leveraging the skill and knowledge that only a team can provide will take you further and farther than you could go by yourself.

Think Gloria Stuart  didn’t have a team? Visit any good film set and you’ll see the wonders of teamwork unfold. She didn’t head out into a field by herself with a camera and a tripod. She found her place on the team. And flourished because of it.

And you can too. Looking for the right team? I am part of a savvy group of online entrepreneurs, pursuing our passions, learning and growing together, as we each build our business.
