Not everyone thinks they can write well.
In fact, many internet entrepreneurs cringe at the very thought of writing all that content.
And yet here we are, ardently creating our business on The Information Superhighway.
With so much content to write, what’ s a little entrepreneur to do
?
Here are 5 blog writing tips just for you.
1. Study then Practice
While taking a good copywriting course is a good idea, there is much to learn simply by reading the posts of master bloggers in your niche. Read them daily. Study what you read.
Notice WHAT they are writing about and HOW they are writing about it.
Believe it or not, many seasoned bloggers started out not having a clue how to do this. Pioneer bloggers made their way through practice alone, without anyone to emulate.
Take advantage of those who have gone before. Study. Practice.
2. The Headline is the Teaser
Spend as much time creating a good headline as you do on the entire rest of the post. Make it snappy. Give it some pizzazz.
For example, which one of these inspires you to read on?
• Baby Boomers and Weight Loss
• Baby Boomers are Lighter Every Year! How Do they Do It?
Give your reader a reason to want to read your post.
Extra tip: your keyword goes in your headline!
3. Numbers and Bullet Points Are Always Your Friend
People scan blog posts. Give their eye a place to land. Take a look at what you’re writing and note how many main points you’re making. Break them out into bullet points or numbered items.
4. Write Like You Talk – Almost
This blog writing tip should get you out of the classroom and into the blogosphere. So to speak. The body text of a blog post works best when it is conversational in tone. This is not a high school English class assignment. Grammar does not need to be perfect. Full sentences not required.
Do use a spell-checker to correct your spelling. That’s easy enough.
5. A Call to Action is a Very Good Thing
Always close your post with a call to action. This can be anything from opting in to your email list to purchasing your ebook or other product. Without this blog writing tip, while your post may be crammed with useful information, it does not lead anywhere.
The purpose of your blog is to build your subscriber base. Invite your reader to take the next step.
