Everybody always wants blog writing tips on how to write killer content.
Yet to use any of the nifty tips you’re gathering, you need to have a topic for that next blog post.
It all starts with the idea floating around your pretty little head.
But what if your head feels empty?
Here are 3 blogging tips for finding new ideas that will get you enthusiastically tapping away at those keys again.
1. Keywords Are Golden
You did all that research to come up with your list of good, solid keywords in your niche, right? Right? If not, you may want to back up a bit before even moving on.
(This blog writing tip is extra: Take a look at How to Find A Niche That Works for You).
Lets assume you’ve got your keyword list. Okay, pick one.
Now type that baby right into a search engine. See what comes up. Follow the links that catch your eye (after all, if they caught yours, they’ll be catching other eyes as well).
Take the time to actually read what you find. How is that blogger, marketer, researcher, writer using that keyword in their content?
Jot down ideas that come to mind. Back to the search engine. Rinse and repeat.
2. It’s Not Sneaky to Spy on Your Competition
Although similar to the last one, this blog writing tip has a little different twist to it.
If you don’t have a list of top blogs in your niche, stop right now and make one. We’re talking keywords, here. Again? Yes, again! Plug your best ones into the search engines and note which blogs embrace the same niche as yours.
Note the most popular ones (how many tweets are their posts getting?). Bookmark those blogs!
When you’re stumped for new ideas, head on over to your favorite competitor’s site and poke around. What are they writing about? Type your keyword into the search box on their site and see how they’re using it.
Jot down any ideas you get. In fact, don’t hesitate to copy the content of that article you really like and save it into a word processing file. Keep that file in a folder marked “Great Articles” or “Niche Research” or whatever you want to call it. Turn to that folder for ideas and inspiration.
3. Don’t Snooze: Use the News!
While you’re agonizing over your next blog post, stuff is happening all over the world. This is one blog writing tip you can use over and over and… you get the picture.
Again, use your browser’s bookmarking feature. Keep access to news headlines at your fingertips. Try Google News or Yahoo! News or other smaller search engines and see what’s cookin’.
Look for news related to your niche. Read it. Save it. Use it.
And when you’ve got that next post written from the idea you found using these blog writing tips, let me hear about it!
